Covalent Technologies Adds Terracotta Clustering Capabilities to Enterprise Ready Server(TM)

Covalent to Bundle the Most Widely Distributed Web Infrastructure Framework with Terracotta Clustering Solution
SAN FRANCISCO—December 11, 2006—Covalent Technologies, a leading supplier of complete enterprise open source solutions , today announced that it is bundling Terracotta's clustering technology with Covalent's Enterprise Ready ServerTM, the most widely distributed Web infrastructure framework in Fortune 500 enterprises that combines the Apache Web server, Apache Tomcat Application Server, and related modules into a single, certified build. Enterprises gain scalability, as clustering with Terracotta makes Apache Tomcat scale almost 10X better than Tomcat on its own and surpasses the scalability of the majority of commercial application servers currently available.
To better serve the open source community, the companies are also expanding the strategic partnership that they established earlier this year. The two companies have entered into a distribution agreement whereby Covalent Technologies will resell Terracotta's subscription support services consisting of enterprise support, certified software, a customer support portal, consulting and training. Terracotta enhances the scalability and availability of Tomcat implementations by clustering session objects, as well as other Java objects, with simple declarations made in configuration and not in source code. By loosening the application's dependency on networking code and data sharing, developers are free to write simpler applications, and those applications run more reliably.
