Terracotta Offers Users A Quick Path To Reliable And Scalable Applications With Minimal Development Effort
San Francisco—June 25, 2007—Terracotta, a leader in infrastructure software for enterprise Java high availability and scalability, today announced support for IBM's WebSphere Application Server (WAS) Community Edition. With this addition to Terracotta 2.4 (see accompanying release), Terracotta can now be used to deliver scalability and availability for the vast majority of Java application architectures.
Terracotta 2.4, the latest version of its open source software, provides a lightweight approach to scalability that complements companies' existing open source or proprietary infrastructures. Terracotta lowers costs and simplifies deployment by reducing development effort and easing the load on application servers and databases. With Terracotta 2.4, WAS Community Edition users can replicate session state, build distributed caches, and coordinate application workflow using Terracotta's high performance object sharing technology.
"We are introducing WebSphere CE support in response to strong demand from our community," said Ari Zilka, CTO and co-founder of Terracotta. "We believe that WebSphere CE's flexibility combined with Terracotta's plug-in approach to availability and scale gives users a very powerful and lightweight approach to developing business- critical applications."
"WebSphere Application Server Community Edition is the premier open source platform for deploying, managing and securing, portable applications that run on a multitude of server and desktop systems," said Paul Buck, director of WebSphere Open Source Business, IBM. "Terracotta is a complementary, best-of-breed technology that provides IBM WAS Community Edition users and customers a low cost, lightweight, and easy to use option to provide application scale and availability for critical business processes."
